Moles are a common animal found throughout Illinois. They are round shaped animals with hairless, pointed snouts; small eyes; and no visible ears. Moles are about 4.4 to 6.25 inches long and weigh about 2.5 to 4.5 ounces. These small rodents tend to live in areas where the soil is easy to dig in such as sandy areas, grasslands, woodlands, gardens, etc. This is because moles dig a series of intricate tunnels in which they live and breed. Because of this moles can do a lot of damage to your home or yard depending on where they choose to dig. They are also a nuisance when it comes to gardens and flowerbeds. If you find these animals living on your property call Guardian Wildlife Services and we will take care of the issue for you.
